     – Annex Remodeling is a good company to hire if you want to bring your ideas to life. I’ve spent much of my life rebuilding houses, boats, and machines, and, though I’m getting to old to want to do my own work, I definitely know what good, high-quality work is. And that’s what they do. I recently hired the company to do a total kitchen remodel, plus some interior and exterior rebuilding and refinishing. Their work is excellent, both in structure and detail.

Jon Sveinsson, the company owner, is a very open, straightforward, and creative person. His initial bids are clear and thorough in detailing the work to be done, and quite competitive in price. In remodeling, it is important to remember that contractors do not control the ultimate costs of most projects. Those costs are most affected by owners” choices of materials, appliances, fixtures, requested design changes, and by problems that may be found in the structure under remodel under the job. I found that Mr. Sveinsson’s approach to design changes or to structural problems requiring additional work was reasonable, both in terms of costs and methods. In addition, I found that any subcontractors he chose for specialties on his jobs – electrical, plumbing, flooring, stonework, etc. – were all excellent in the quality of their work. And, even for those with experience in carpentry and building, Mr. Sveinsson and his associates can offer interesting strategies to help clients get just what they want.

Mr. Sveinsson is very attentive to supervising all aspects of projects to ensure that they turn out well, besides being pleasant to be around and having an excellent sense of humor.     – We selected Jon Sveinsson/Annex Remodeling LLC as the contractor to renovate our 1939 house. He started with a 2100 sqft single story with basement garage/finished space; added a second story, 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, laundry room and covered porch; and in the end we now have a 3000 sqft home that our family with 2 growing kids can enjoy for years.

Throughout the planning and during the construction Jon was always a clear and effective communicator. We had weekly and as needed check-ins to go over schedule, upcoming decision points, financing and change orders so we were always informed and knew what we needed to provide to keep the project moving. Expectations were always clear and communication was always done in advance so that we were able to avoid last minute decisions. Jon was very detail oriented, providing oversight to subcontractors ensuring that their work met his standards and that they understood our desires as the home owner.

No construction project goes without problems however; we had to navigate the restrictions of bank financing and the difficulty in recruiting and retaining labor and subcontractors due to the active market. Through it all Jon was flexible, responsive and a good partner to problem solve with! Above it all, Jon is a kind person with a sense of humor and was always present through every step of our 14 month construction period. We are grateful for the hard work that Jon has invested in remodeling our home and highly recommend him to those doing any significant renovations. – AJ

 

   – It is a pleasure to relate how pleased I am with the consult, planning and completion of this company’s work at my home.  Jon and his assistant came together and gave me helpful attention regarding five different projects and concerns that I described.  Some wood siding needed to be replaced and painted, some window seals were compromised, a metal railing needed some attention, and my front door insulation had worn out.   My questions and concerns were addressed carefully and after an assessment of the work ahead, they noticed some additional (minor in cost and labor) problems that I had missed.

A close friend recommended Annex Remodeling to me after a complete and extensive master bath remodel.  The clear communication, reasonable labor cost and most importantly, the outstanding workmanship (including help to find the best products) all produced a beautiful finish!
